Learning - Training - Applying
I have been training at the Gilliland Academy for nearly 5 years now, I originally joined the academy to learn the many different styles of martial arts that the academy offered, and loose a few much need pounds in weight while I was at it, as my BMI when I joined was over 28. In total during my time at the academy I have lost 2 and a half stone, and my BMI is now under 23.5. The amount of confidence the training has given me is unbelievable, plus Im always full of energy and lively compared to when I used to sit around doing nothing during my free time. Before I started doing martial arts again I tried going to a normal get fit gym, but I found it to be very expensive & I didn't go as regular as I should, the reason I didn't go as regular was because I didn't find the gym fun, unlike martial arts training which is a lot of fun believe me.
I used to do Karate many years ago while I was child, which I enjoyed very much, but I gave this up as I got older. Another reason I decided to start training in martial arts again, in my early 20's was because I really liked watching the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) as well as other MMA shows i.e PRIDE etc. A dream of mine since watching MMA for the 1st time has been to compete in the cage myself one day. I never thought that 5 years later my dream would come true, but it did and I haven't looked back. I also enjoy the variety of other styles that are available at the academy, including PFS (Progressive Fighting System) which is ideal for self protection out in the real world.
I would recommend this academy to anybody who is interested in taking up martial arts, all the instructors are very friendly and knowledgeable, the chief instructor has 35+ years of experience behind him, and he has trained with some of the best guys from all over the world. The people who train at the academy are very friendly too, and make you feel very welcome. Whether your looking to train for fun & get fit, or train to do competitions like myself, then this is the place to be.

"I'm 27 and I had no martial arts experience before I started training at the Academy but I've learned a lot in a short space of time and really enjoyed all the training. All of the instructors' are highly skilled in a number of different martial arts and they are very positive and enthusiastic. You can try a wide variety of classes and the instructors strike a good balance between technical training and conditioning to push you and help you develop. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to train regardless of your previous experience."

Gilliland Academy provides a great training environment with a friendly and competitive group of people. Crucially, each training session is both intense and fun, and the instructors clearly know their stuff!

Training at the Gilliland Academy has been a tremendously rewarding experience. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable, professional
and friendly - this reflects their own years of dedicated training and lineage, which goes directly back to Sigung Bruce Lee and other Grand
Masters like Ron Balicki, and Paul Vunak.
The training has improved me both mentally and physically. I have been given the tools and discipline to control and deal with both street
and sport combat. I have become faster, stronger, more flexible and more confident. I have also been given an insight into the years of
history and training which form the basis of JKD, Kali, MMA and PSF.
It is an honour to learn and train with Sifu Keith and his team - I consider them the best in the business!

I joined the Gilliland Martial Arts Academy 6 years ago, having done martial arts since i was 12 years old i'd been a member of different organisations before but what attracted me to the academy was the Jeet Kune Do system.Having been a Bruce Lee fan from an early age this was a great find for me.I was very impressed from the start with the professional approach of the academys instructors,i was very pleased to find an instructor such as Sifu Keith Gilliland who has so much experience and a direct lineage to Bruce Lee through his very impresive list of instructors such as Ron Baliki,Paul Vunak etc.The classes were very well structured and carried out to a high standard. The avenues that the academy opens up for its student are very good,if your looking to go into competitions, becoming an instructor like myself or simply just being the best you can be at your chosen system the academy can offer it all and is a must for all serious martial artists.
